Responsible. Conscientious. Professional.
My name is Sofia Hansrod. I have a Diploma in Proofreading and Editing from the New Zealand Institute of Business Studies (NZIBS), from which I graduated with merit.
I also have a Bachelor of Health in Speech and Language Therapy (Hogeschool Rotterdam, 2000) and have worked in education settings and private health care, in New Zealand as well as the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
I started SolidProof to make the most of my skills involving words and language; I am a bit of a language nerd and also a terrible perfectionist, which does not always serve me in my personal life...but is certainly a great trait to have as a proofreader! I have a great eye for detail and errors jump out at me from the page. While you might not necessarily enjoy scanning your written content for typos, pesky punctuation and crooked sentences, I actually really love picking up errors like these and improving your text!
My areas of expertise and interest include, but are not limited to: health/lifestyle, alternative/holistic health, speech and language pathology, child development, English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) and travel.
I have a specific interest in equestrian topics, such as natural horsemanship, horse psychology/behaviour, different riding and training methods, and gaited horses (particularly Icelandic horses).
However, I welcome projects from a wide variety of topics and specialist fields.
I live in Christchurch, New Zealand with my husband, two children and three cats. In my spare time I enjoy reading, running (jogging...), yoga, nature walks and, most of all, horse riding and anything to do with (Icelandic) horses.
